One cockpit control for H-pattern driving and sequential racing.
The Asetek Dual Mode Shifter gives a dedicated gear lever a place beside your steering wheel. Use it to build a driving position around the cars you enjoy, whether you prefer selecting individual gears or working through a sequential gearbox. A separate shifter also lets you arrange the cockpit around your own reach and seating position, rather than relying on wheel-mounted controls for every car.
Why choose the Asetek Dual Mode Shifter?
- H-pattern operation with seven forward gears and reverse.
- Tool-free mode selection switches to sequential shifting.
- An LED indicator identifies the selected mode.
- Contactless Hall-effect gear detection in an aluminium and steel unit.
Product details
Match the control layout to the car
An H-pattern layout makes individual gear selection part of the driving process. A sequential layout uses repeated shifts in either direction. When changing cars, check the gearbox and control settings in your simulator as well as the hardware mode. Setting up both together helps the physical control and the virtual car behave as expected.
Make mode changes part of your setup routine
The integrated selector changes modes without tools. Before leaving the pits, confirm the selected mode and test the appropriate assignments in the simulator. For an H-pattern profile, check the individual gears; for a sequential profile, check shift-up and shift-down. Save separate control profiles where your game supports them.
Find a natural shifter position
Start from the seat, with your feet on the pedals and your hands at the wheel. Position the shifter so that you do not need to lean forward or move your shoulder excessively to reach it. Leave space around the lever for its full movement, and check that the mounting plate remains stable during use.
Prepare a layout that can grow
Consider where a handbrake might sit before fixing the final shifter position. Side-by-side controls need clearance for both your hand and the levers. Keep the cable route clear of seat sliders and other moving parts. A few minutes spent planning the layout can save remounting equipment when you add another control later.
Compatibility and setup
PC: direct USB connection with Asetek RaceHub for calibration.
Xbox: requires a compatible Asetek Xbox wheelbase and steering wheel. Direct USB connection alone does not provide Xbox compatibility.
Check your simulator's controller support and available assignments. After installation, confirm that the input returns to its resting state and save a working control profile before adjusting other settings.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need tools to change shifting modes?
No. Use the integrated mode selector and check the LED indication before configuring the corresponding game controls.
Why does changing the hardware mode not change my game settings?
Hardware mode and game control assignments are separate settings. Review your simulator's gearbox options and map the inputs for the mode you want to use.
Do I need a clutch pedal?
That depends on the car, simulator and assistance settings. Check how your chosen game models the gearbox and clutch before deciding on your pedal setup.
Can I mount the shifter on either side?
Yes. It supports left- and right-side configurations. Check the mounting dimensions and the available clearance on your cockpit.
Is an Asetek wheelbase required on PC?
No. You can connect directly by USB. For Xbox, a compatible Asetek Xbox wheelbase and steering wheel are required.
What should I test after installation?
Check the mounting, cable routing and every gear assignment while stationary. Test reverse separately and confirm shift-up and shift-down in your sequential profile.
Which version is supplied?
This is the standard Dual Mode Shifter, product code 40-042-0042001, rather than the numbered Signature Edition.
Product colours and finishes may appear slightly different depending on lighting and screen settings.
