Pressure-based control for rally stages, drift sessions and a more complete sim racing cockpit.

The Asetek Load Cell Handbrake adds a separate hand control to your driving position, giving you a dedicated place to reach when a stage or drift transition calls for it. It is an upgrade for drivers who want their cockpit layout to reflect how they drive: steering, shifting and handbrake inputs each have their own control. Think about reach and mounting position as carefully as the rest of your rig, so you can return your hand to the wheel naturally.

Why choose the Asetek Load Cell Handbrake?

  • 200 kg load-cell sensor with 16-bit resolution measures braking force.
  • Tune the two-stage spring and elastomer resistance to your preference.
  • Choose progressive analogue input or digital on/off operation.
  • Aluminium and steel construction with left- or right-side mounting.

Product details

Build a repeatable hand movement

For rally and drift driving, a useful handbrake position is one you can find without looking away from the track. Start with your normal seated position and choose a location that lets your arm move comfortably between the wheel and lever. A firm mounting surface matters: movement in a bracket can make a consistent hand action harder to repeat.

Choose the input style for your simulator

Analogue mode offers a graduated input, while digital mode provides an on/off command. Check the handbrake options in your simulator before configuring it. Where an analogue axis is supported, watch the input display while testing a few gentle pulls. For a digital assignment, confirm that the action releases properly as well as activating.

Set the feel before chasing lap times

Use the adjustable spring and elastomer system to choose the resistance. Begin with a comfortable setup and spend time on a familiar section of track before changing it again. Change one setting at a time; this makes it easier to identify whether a difference comes from the hardware setup or your driving. The aim is a controlled action you can reproduce, rather than the greatest possible resistance.

Plan a complete control layout

If you also use a separate shifter, leave enough space for both movements. Check that the lever does not interfere with your wheel, seat or shifter at either end of its travel. Route cables away from moving parts and leave appropriate slack so that adjusting your driving position does not pull on a connector.

Compatibility and setup

PC: direct USB connection with Asetek RaceHub for calibration.

Xbox: requires a compatible Asetek Xbox wheelbase and steering wheel. Direct USB connection alone does not provide Xbox compatibility.

Check your simulator's controller support and available assignments. After installation, confirm that the input returns to its resting state and save a working control profile before adjusting other settings.

Frequently asked questions

Does the 200 kg specification mean I must pull with 200 kg?

No. It describes the load-cell sensor rating, not a required hand force. Choose a comfortable resistance and calibrate the control for your intended use.

Should I use analogue or digital mode?

Choose the mode supported by the game and the control assignment you want. An axis allows a variable input; a button-style assignment is on or off.

How should I position the handbrake?

Sit in your usual driving position first. Check reach, lever clearance and the strength of the mounting surface before tightening the installation.

Can I use it alongside a separate shifter?

Yes. Plan space for both controls and make sure each can move freely without obstructing the other.

What should I check if the game does not respond?

Check the USB connection, device recognition and control assignment. Test the input in the configuration software, then review the selected axis or button in the game.

Is an Asetek wheelbase required for PC use?

No. PC use supports a direct USB connection. Xbox operation follows a different connection path and requires a compatible Asetek Xbox wheelbase and steering wheel.

Is this the Signature Edition?

No. This listing is for the standard Load Cell Handbrake, product code 40-040-0040001.

Product colours and finishes may appear slightly different depending on lighting and screen settings.
